Teenage Ghost

The three girls below erupted in giggles again, this time loud enough to echo off the theater walls. Then all three held up their phones and snapped photos of the Goth group sitting at the top of the theater.
    “Gargoyles” Jody captioned hers.
“Shadow Demons” captioned Kiesha before she posted on her social media.
“The Dark Cloud hovering overhead” Belenda posted.
The three couldn’t contain their self satisfaction. They all commented on each other posts, and laughed about the social whirlwind they had created. Half of their followers were already commenting and wondering what was going on.
Other movie goers were starting to file in the theater. Soon the girls couldn’t be heard over the dull roar of the other patrons. Vi began to relax as saw more people come into the theater. She stopped leaning forward to see better and sat back in her seat.
The wall behind her now had a solid, one inch thick patch of ice on it.
The lights began to dim and the previews clicked on.
Josh was grateful for the people who were now seated in the rows between the two groups. He was glad Vi had finally seemed to relax and was enjoying the previews. He put his arm around her and immediately pulled it back.
Vi turned quickly and snapped, “What’s your problem?”
A bright explosion on the preview lit up the theater and light reflected off the ice on the wall.
“There’s ice back here!” Josh exclaimed.
The two rows sitting in front of the group all turned around and said “SHHHH!”.
“It’s nothing.” Vi said and watched the movie previews again.
The three preppy girls however now had new ammunition and insults regarding ice and the Gothic couple on the back row. They began snapping pictures and texting. Small flashes went off like blinking lights til the same Shhhing group complained for the girls to turn off their phones.
Just as the movie was starting Jarzon had decided he wouldn’t take any more of their abuse in stride. He began tossing popcorn, a kernel at a time, trying to hit the gossiping trio.
Josh soon joined in the game, and handed a large handful of popcorn to Vi so she too could play.
Jarzon offered the tub to Brenda who merely shook her head and would not play along.
Brenda tried to watch the movie all the way until the manager came and ejected all four of them out.
The troublesome trio of girls laughing, and taking pictures the entire time.
Brenda knew that by Monday, she and Vi would be the talk of the school. She’d always wanted to be popular and noticed by the cheerleaders, but not this way.
