Teenage Ghost

Jeff knew it wouldn’t be hard to find Vi, he walked past woodshop to the inside girls bathroom. He pushed the door inward and held it there. “Imahoe I know you’re in there, living up to your nick name. Dating a grandfather and grandson.”
Vi rounded the corner and walked out of the restroom. “Always the smart Nerd, aren’t you?” Vi stepped into the middle of the hallway out of his reach. “What do you want anyway? To destroy my happiness again?” She became angry, “You don’t know what it’s like here. Day after day, night after night. No one cares about me, no one thinks about me.”
“You think I don’t know?” Jeff tossed back at her. “At my school people pass my plaque day after day, no one even notices or know my name.”
“At least you got a plaque!” Vi screamed at him. “I never even existed at this school!”
    “Calm down Vi.”
“Evan was the only person who ever noticed me!” the lights in the hallway began to flicker behind her.
“I understand that.” Jeff let out a breath of air and shook his head as he looked down, “I may be the only other person in the world who does. But you have to let him go Vi, you can’t keep here in this dream forever. He will die.”
“I’m counting on it.” Vi had calmed down considerably. “If he dies while he is in my arms we can spend an eternity together. We’ll never be apart again.”
“What if he doesn’t want that?”
“Does he look like he doesn’t want that to you?” Vi crossed her arms. “Does it seem like I am forcing him to be with me? He welcomed me back into his arms, as if it was yesterday.”
    “When?” Jeff was suspicious.
“After you opened the door so I could enter in.” Vi shifted her weight. “I followed you after you came to my school. I saw you enter into his dreams. That was when I found out I no longer had to be alone here. Forever stuck in a high school where no one even remembers my name. You brought him here, to talk to him. I decided to keep him here, forever to be mine.” Vi walked down the hall a bit and turned back around to Jeff. “I had thought I would grow up and be his wife, have a few rug rats. However, that would have ended to quick wouldn’t it? I like this eternity thing much better. And look at me, I’m forever Seventeen.” She held up her hands and then vanished into thin air.
Jeff rushed to catch up with Evan after Literature class ended in the third wing. He saw Evan walk out of class and caught him just before Vi could walk up. “Hey Evan, how’s June and Darren?”
Vi’s eyes flashed with anger at the mention of Evan Sr’s wife and son.
“Who?” Evan asked before pausing to think.
Vi jumped between the two and kissed Evan deeply. “Stop all your nonsense and leave my boyfriend alone.” She said as she turned to Jeff. “Or you’ll be sorry.” she threatened.
Jeff watched the two cuddle walk down the hallway away from him. He knew Vi’s threat was all too real, but that could only mean his friend was again in all too real danger.
