Teenage Ghost
Vi looked over at Evan, “Just one more sec. There’s an emergency with my best friend Brenda. She just lost her phone.”
Evan shrugged and said nothing.
Vi texted Jarzon, “Brenda is grounded. Mom took her phone. Don’t be mad, she’s crazy in love with you.”
A zombie moan went off when Jarzon’s reply appeared on the screen. “Not mad. Happens. We’ll get her a new phone.”
“Cool. See Ya.” Vi texted back and put her phone back in her pocket.
“Anything I should know about?” Evan asked as he started walking towards Jeff’s house.
Vi responded without emotion, “Brenda got grounded for skipping class.”
“Oh.” Evan decided not to ask any more about it. They had reached Jeff’s house anyway and stood on the driveway. “Well… This is it. I don’t know if his mom’s home, but this is where they live.”
“Thanks.” Vi said and stood watching him for a while. Finally she stated, “You can go now.”
“Don’t you want to know about Inja?” Evan asked quickly.
Vi got the feeling Evan just wanted to spend more time with her. “Tell me.”, she said and sat on the driveway cement.
