Teenage Ghost

    Brenda waited patiently for hours while Vi worked on her hair and makeup. They had draped a sheet over the mirror so she couldn’t sneak a peek til it was done. Finally the time had arrived.
    Vi walked to the corner of the mirror and grabbed the sheet, yanking it off while Brenda stood in front.
    Brenda gasped at the sight of herself. She rushed towards the mirror and put her glasses on. “I look..” she started, but could not find the words.
    Her hair looked like something straight out of a rock video. It was jagged in places and pink in other places. Her eyes had heavy black all around, but the pink eyeshadow matched her hair, blush, and lips. She looked like a movie star, or a pop star. She had no idea she could look like this.
    Vi grinned in satisfaction. “If you had pink contacts, you’d be perfect.”
    Brenda’s eyes widened, “They make those?”
    Vi laughed a little, “Have you been living under a rock?” Then her face lit up and she became serious, “You have to meet Jarzon.” she began texting like crazy on her phone to Jarzon, then held the phone up and snapped a fast picture of Brenda’s reflection in the mirror and sent it.
    Vi erupted in mischievous giggles, and texted some more. She bit her bottom lip and then looked at Brenda, “How do you feel about a double date?”

    Brenda felt giddy and excited at the same time. “What?”, she smiled the biggest smile she had ever had in her life.

    Vi texted furiously, then turned back to Brenda. “He wants to meet you.”
    Brenda felt her heart leap almost straight out of her chest. She couldn’t believe the luck she was suddenly having. First a new friend, and now a boy was interested in her! Gooseflesh rose on her arms and legs, she was scared though. “I don’t know.” she said quickly. “I don’t know what to do, I never had a boy like me before.” She felt awkward telling Vi that, but Vi didn’t make her feel uncomfortable about her lack of life experience.
   Vi looked at her and smiled and read off the text she received. “He says Everlasting Daybreak is playing tonight, he’d love to meet us there with Josh.” She pleaded with Brenda with her eyes and pouted her lip, “You have to say yes, I really want to see my boyfriend, and I promise you’ll have a good time. Jarzon is a really nice guy, you wont be sorry, I promise.”
    Brenda didn’t want to let down her new friend, or seem uncool. Also she wanted to go, deep inside herself she wanted to conquer the fears she had. She felt a nervous energy rush all through her, she felt like she was shaking all over from it. “Okay.” she nodded her head in agreement.
    Vi jumped and then grabbed Brenda hugging her tightly. “You are going to have the time of your life, I promise! You wont regret this!”
