Teenage Ghost

Evan sat down, “I don’t really have anyone to talk to now that Jeff is gone. Inja is grounded and can’t go out anymore or have a phone for the rest of the school semester.”
Vi let out a breath and shook her head, she felt bad for Evan having to face life all alone like that.
Evan looked out across the street, “Her dad is threatening to move back to Pakistan. She’s worried I’m going to leave her for someone I can hang out with.” He turned his head and looked further down the road, “I think I love her.”
“Then wait for her.” Vi stated.
Evan hadn’t expected Vi to be so understanding, he quickly turned to face her. His face and eyes lit up as he began to speak about Inja, “I am going to wait for her, and go to school early every morning to her smile. Spend my entire lunch hour sitting across from her beautiful face. Every moment we have together is all the more special, because there’s fewer of them.”
Vi half smiled at the romantic notions.
Evan’s enthusiasm faded into loneliness, and he looked away from Vi. “I just don’t don’t have anyone to talk to. You know, when I feel frustrated I can’t see her or if I just want to talk about how great she is. I miss Jeff. I don’t understand what could have happened to him. At first I thought maybe he’d just run away. I don’t know. Maybe the new school year freaked him out, and he panicked, and ran. That’s what I thought at first, plus his mom is so strict with the phones and stuff.”
    “Phones and stuff?” Vi interrupted.
Evan shook his head and dismissed her question. “Then she was crazy he was missing too, but had no recent photographs.”
Vi raised her eyebrows at him, “What are you babbling about?”
