Teenage Ghost

“Are you sure this is going to work?” Brenda stared at her I.D. card.
Vi watched the kids walking past going to class, not a single one of them noticed the girls standing there by the middle stairwell doorway.
“If my mother finds out I’m cutting class…”
Vi looked over at Brenda and assured her, “No one is going to find out. Did Emily say she was coming?”
“No. She said she was hanging out with Josh.” Brenda sucked her lips inward and bit on them.
     Vi’s eyes narrowed instantly.
Jennifer bounced up on the two, she was all smiles and happy to have friends. “What’s up?”
Vi drew in a breath and slowly let it out, “Nothing. I thought we were going to have one more…”
Vi never got to finish her sentence. Emily walked up and waved to the trio.
Brenda said quickly, “I thought you were with Josh.”
     Emily looked confused, “No.”
The bell for fourth rang, and the last of the students scurried down the hallways.
Vi decided to drop the discussion for another time.
The stairwell was empty now, so the girls entered. They walked to the turn around halfway up the stairs, and settled down on the platform.
Jennifer pulled white candles out of her purse and placed them on the ground after lighting them.
The girls sat in a circle, the knee touching the one sitting next. They placed the Ouija board on top of their knees, and each girl placed one finger on the plastic slider.
