Teenage Ghost

“Wow this room is pink!” Vi joked with Brenda as she entered the room.
Brenda giggled slightly, then asked. “So what do you want to do?”
“Oh, I don’t know” Vi said as she sat down on the pillow filled pink bed. “What are you into? What TV shows do you watch, or music do you listen to.” Vi looked around the room, “I’m going to guess your favorite color is pink.”
Brenda giggled again. “I like dance music, I like to dance but I’m not very good at it. I wanted to be a cheerleader, but my mom can’t afford the camps.” Her voice started to get lower and trail off, “or the uniforms, or anything else.” Brenda shrugged off her disappointment.
“Who needs all that?” Vi laid back on the bed and looked at the pink ceiling, it had glitter mixed in with the paint. “You know how much time that takes up? It takes up all your time. All you have time for is work outs, and working on your routines.” She sat back up and looked at Brenda. “Over and over and over again.” Vi made faces.
    Brenda laughed.
“Besides, you can’t be friends with anyone outside the squad.” Vi complained.
“I don’t really watch a lot of tv.” Brenda continued talking. “We don’t have anything but free tv.”
“Wow they still make that?” Vi interrupted.
This time Brenda didn’t laugh, she felt a little hurt. Brenda decided to stop talking as sit on her cushioned, princess footstool.
Vi bit her lip, “I’m sorry. I don’t even have a home right now, so I know what it’s like to be poor.”
Brenda looked at her new friend with shock. “What?”
