Teenage Ghost

Vi snuggled against Josh, “Haven’t you always felt like I was, Special?”
Josh had indeed felt that, since the first time he’d seen her. There was just something different about her. “Sure.” he replied.
“Well.” Vi rolled over and looked up at Josh. “I have something like, powers.” she watched his expression.
Josh looked at her with disbelief for a moment, ‘however it would explain things’ he thought. “Yeah powers like what?” Josh said unsure of what Vi might do next. He pulled his legs out from under her and pushed her off while doing it.
“You know.” Vi stood up from the slide and moved to his right. “Like I can come into your dreams when your sleeping.” she ran her hand down his arm and pulled up his sleeve. “And do stuff to you.”
Josh jerked his wrist out of her grasp and got off the slide, putting it between them. “Yeah? And what else can you do?” he said annoyed.
“I can make things happen.” Vi smiled wickedly.
“Make things happen like what.” he watched her every flirtatious move.
“If you ignore me again you may find out.” she walked around the base of the slide towards him. “Lets not fight again.” she reached out playfully to take his hand, but he stepped back.
“No Vi.” Josh watched her carefully. “Tell me what you can do or it’s over between us. I can’t trust you, that’s obvious now. I wanted some space, I wanted some time to find out who I really am. Who I want to become. I wanted some time to think, in silence and seclusion. You interrupted me with your selfish needs. You will care about my needs now.”
Vi was taken aback by his behavior. She sort of liked this new Josh. “I can make things happen like this.” she held her hand up lightly and all the swings on the playground began to slowly swing. Soon the swings looked as if invisible children were swinging on them, not a one in unison. She lowered her hand and the swings seemed to loose the life they had, slowly the swinging ended.
A bird quickly flew past the back of Josh’s head, a talon grazing his right ear as it went past.
Vi’s smile had faded and a look of seriousness stood in it’s place. “And I can do that.”
“I saw a movie like that once.” Josh touched his ear. “Was that about you?”
    Vi giggled.
“So that night. With the lockers.”
Vi giggled more loudly. “Yes, that was me.”
Josh instantly felt something inside him wake up. It was some part of him he didn’t know existed, a dark side. He saw in Vi a potential to rule the school in the coming school year. With her power and his brain, there wouldn’t be a bully left safe in this school. He reached out and took her face in his hands. Even more than that, they could rule over the teachers, the principle. The possibilities were endless.
Josh looked deep into Vi’s black soulless eyes. “I love you.” he said in a definite tone.
Vi smiled back up at him, “I know.”
