Teenage Ghost
Belenda showed Inja the footage before school. Inja felt her heart fall to the ground as the two locked arms and Vi led him away.
“The girl is scum.” Kiesha said out loud. “Why is it guys always fall for the bad girl? The good girl never gets a break.”
“He’s going to break up with me.” Inja almost whimpered as she saw the last few seconds of the video.
“Then he doesn’t deserve you.” Belenda said quickly.
Inja replied just under breath, “But I love him.”
The other girls hadn’t heard her declaration, they were too busy trash talking Vi and passing around Belenda’s phone.
Inja felt hurt inside. All she wanted to do was run away from her friends and cry. She looked up and saw Evan standing at a distance.
He waved to her and smiled.
Suddenly everything Inja felt disappeared. She felt light and full of sunshine again, she smiled back at him. Quickly she jumped up and ran past her teammates to her boyfriend’s open arms.
“I came early just to see you.” Evan hugged her tight. “We didn’t find Jeff. Not even a clue that would help us find Jeff.”
Inja said nothing she just held him tightly.
