Teenage Ghost

“That’s when I found out about the device her father built to try his hand at ghost hunting.” Lore explained as they sat between cars in the parking lot. “He’s all anti tech to the outside world, but he has a workshop in their basement filled up with all kind of electronic devices he’s made. I’ve been to the Enind house. I saw it myself.”
“How likely are you to want a new girlfriend?” Vi fished.
Lore shook his head emphatically. “No. She’s too clingy. She’ll never let go.”
Vi shrugged, “And it will break her heart when you dump her. Every teenage girl needs a little heartbreak. You’ll be doing her a favor and making her dreams come true, all at the same time.”
   Lore glared at Vi defiantly.
The two sat in silence for a few months before Lore asked, “Why don’t you befriend her and go get the devices yourself?”
Vi let out a quick breath of air and looked off into the distance, “Her mom hates me.”
   “I didn’t know she knew you…”
Vi interrupted him and stood up, “It goes a way back, before I knew Jennifer. She’ll never let me in the house. If she even knew I was talking to her daughter she’d probably sell their house and move to another state.” Vi started to walk away, “If you’re not going to help just forget it, I’ll figure it out. It would just be easier if you’d do it. I can find another guy who’s willing to use her to get inside. Though he probably wont be as gracious as you are, and he’ll probably take advantage of her.”
“Fine!” Lore stood up and followed her back inside the school. “I’ll do it.” He texted Jennifer, “hang after school? Your house?” He pressed send and showed it to Vi as proof. “I’ll see if I can find what you’re looking for. Her dad likes me, he’ll probably let me borrow it. We’re both really interested in specters.”
“I want something that will bring back the dead.” Vi looked at him seriously. “I want something with enough power in it to pull someone back from the after life.”
“I think you’ll need more than electricity for that.” Lore tried to keep Vi’s expectations low.
“I have everything else we need.” Vi started to walk in a different direction then stopped and called back to Lore over her shoulder. “Oh! And I’ll need Jennifer to be there when I do this. She’s clairsentient, she’s like a lightening rod. If we don’t have her it will never work.”
