Teenage Ghost

Inja sat on the bench outside the office doors. It would be hours still before school started. The sun wasn’t even up. She was grateful the other girls weren’t here and she hadn’t put her make up on yet. It was becoming too hard to hold back the tears any longer. She let them silently fall down her cheek.
Rumors would have been bad enough, but the images swirling around between her friends said it all.
Big, fat, hot tears rolled down her cool cheeks now as she thought about it.
Everyone knew it, everyone who was here last year.
Evan and Vi were a couple. For months the two were inseparable, if Evan’s grandfather hadn’t died they would probably still be together. She knew it all. How Vi and Evan held hands and kissed. How closely they hung on to each other.
Inja never let Evan get as close as that. She’d never even kissed him, they’d only held hands.
Vi and Evan used to french kiss, but Inja was not comfortable even thinking about it. The very thought of it embarrassed her. It was going too far to a place she was not ready to go. She wasn’t sure she would ever be ready to go there.
Everyone knew the past few months Vi’s boyfriend Josh was being seen with that transfer student, Emily. Maybe it was over between Vi and Josh, and she was going back to Evan.
Inja wasn’t allowed to leave her house anymore except to go to school, and now Evan and Vi are walking home together. Inja sobbed a little and tried to gulp down some air past the lump growing in her throat. She just wanted to be like the other girls, why did her parents have to make it so hard.
She buried her face in her hands and let the sorrow take over. She cried out loud, grateful there was no around to hear or see her. She stopped sobbing and starting trying to pull herself together. When she looked up through blurry tear-strained eyes, she saw the cause of all her sorrow looking down at her.
Vi stood with her hands on her hips, glaring down at the emotional cheerleader. ‘Serves her right.’ Vi thought to herself watching the last of the tears dry up.
“What do you want?” Inja asked quickly, “You already stole my boyfriend.”
“Are you sure about that?” Vi scoffed. “I think you better check with him first.”
   Inja stopped crying.
Vi shrugged, “But if you don’t want him… I’ll be happy to take him back.”
