Teenage Ghost

Chapter Five

Vi had split off from her crew who were off in the back field eating lunch. Josh was sharing his lunch with Emily. Ever since the transfer to the new school Josh hadn’t been the same. They used to be inseparable. Josh was entirely devoted to and in love with her. Was. Vi’s thoughts flashed back to an earlier argument she had with her boyfriend. She accused of him spending too much time with Emily. He said, “Emily is interesting to talk to. She’s an artist, what do you do?”
What did she do. One day she would show him again what she could do. She would show them all if things didn’t start going her way again.
For now though, she just needed a break. She walked down hallway and into the interior courtyard.
Vi laughed to herself sarcastically, as she saw Inja and Evan sitting at a picnic table together in the courtyard. She crossed her arms and leaned against the wall to watch the spectacle take place.

“And then you never saw him again?” Inja asked Evan as they sat together for lunch.
“No one knows what happened.” Evan replied.
“That’s scary to think that people can just disappear like that.” Inja said and began to lightly run her hand across his back several times to comfort him. Secretly inside she wished she could disappear. She and Evan could run away and build a life together, no one would have to know where they went. People would always wonder what happened to the two of them. The young couple in love that disappeared like Jeff.
Inja sighed and pushed the daydream out of her head. She moved her hand back to the table and said sympathetically, “I’m sorry about your friend. I would have liked to have met him.”
“You might still.” Evan always remained hopeful his best friend would show up. He turned to Inja. “I have this feeling deep down inside, that’s he’s alright… Wherever he is. I just know I am going to see him again.”
“Maybe you will.” Inja smiled at his optimism. She loved the fact that he never gave up on his friend. She loved many things about Evan.
