Teenage Ghost

Vi turned to look at the store and saw a talisman on the far wall. It looked like bent green twigs tied with wolf skin. The design woven into it was complex, almost reminiscent of a spiderweb. Vi knew it well. Before she died she studied the occult with great interest. “What’s this spirit ward then?” She pointed to it.
Eartha scoffed at her accusation, “Why does it not work on you, if it’s so powerful?”
“Because this only works on light spirits. It wont do anything against darkness.” Vi glared at her, “You don’t have what it takes to defeat something like me. You don’t even know how to use what you do have.”
   Eartha ignored her insult.
“You need to take this off the wall and burn it, it has his essence trapped in the web.” Vi pointed at the talisman.
“I will not. That is family heirloom. It was my great, great, great grandmothers the great Shaman…” Eartha tried to speak but was interrupted.
“You’ll do it or I’ll do it.” Vi warned.
“No!” Eartha stood firm. “There has to be another way. We have almost had a breakthrough using cell phone batteries.”
   Vi’s anger subsided quickly, “What?”
“He drained the batteries at a school play and became solid for a few seconds so his mom could see him.” Eartha explained.
“His mom?” Vi questioned, then out of the corner of her eye she saw Evan walking near the store entrance. She turned quickly and rushed towards him, grabbing him by the shirt and pushing him away from the store. “Forget it, there’s nothing here. She’s a fake. I have a better chance of finding him on my own.”
