Teenage Ghost
The stairwell began to grow colder, til everyone’s breath was visible. Everyone’s but Vi. Vi was not concerned by this. The flames rose and burned an eerie blue, attracting all the attention. In the distance a popping and crunching sound could be heard. It started at one end of the school and was moving towards the group.
“Tell us if you are with us.” Vi called out.
The pointer began to fiercely jerk the hands of the group. It was almost painful as they tried to hang on and get the message through.
“I-A-M-H-E-R-E” the board spelled out over and over.
“I don’t like this.” Emily said and looked at Josh.
“I want to get out of here.” Jennifer said to Lore.
The noise was getting closer, it was more evident now what the noise was. All of the overhead lights in the hallway and classrooms were lighting up, burning out, and exploding.
Brenda’s legs were like dead weight. They would not move under her, no matter how much she wanted to run.
The lights in the hallway lit up for a brief second as did the one in the stairwell.
Emily and Jennifer screamed as they looked at a large dark figure looming behind Vi.
There was a sudden gust of cold wind and the candle flames extinguished. Glass from the bulb shattered and fell down on the group.
Everyone but Vi ran for their lives out of the stairwell.
Vi stood up slowly and turned around to face whatever stood there.
The entire group was in the courtyard when they heard Vi scream. It was the kind of scream you knew better than to run towards.
Brenda wanted to go back and save Vi but how could she?
“You didn’t see that thing!” Emily pulled on Josh to keep him from rushing back in to save Vi.
“We have to get out of here!” Jennifer grabbed Lore’s hand and the pair raced across the courtyard to the exit. “Hurry up! You have to escape!”
“Come on baby,” Jarzon put his around Brenda. “I’m more concerned about you. Let’s get you home nice and safe, now.”
Janus helped Emily pull Josh away from the scene and the trio ran to the local gas station.
