Teenage Ghost

Fortuness opened for business. Eartha spent the better part of the morning watching the “lookey-loos”. She made no sales and no one took her sign for readings seriously.
Eartha remained resolute, even amid the whispered snickers.
She ate her lunch at the front counter while mall walkers window shopped, but did not dare enter. Then she saw something strange.
Eartha stopped chewing and watched at the Goth girl staring at her across the mall wing. Eartha spit her food out and walked to the entrance of Fortuness.
She planted her feet firmly and crossed her arms. Her glare met with the girl’s, and energy passed between them.
Eartha drew in a deep breath. In her mind she spoke to her challenger, “I draw my energy from the Earth, it is a renewable source with more available to me every day. You have limited power, and once you use it fighting me, it will be gone. So I welcome your attack, but beware I am a Warrior.”
Eartha could feel the dark energy within the teenager was great. She was undaunted. Even she could defeat the most fiercest of Demons. She narrowed her eyes at the teenage girl, and grit her teeth. After all this was she was paid for.

Jeff walked down the mall towards the fortune tellers shop. He froze cold when he saw the two of them. Their eyes were locked as if in some form of telepathic battle.
He could not tell who was winning from his viewpoint.
He rushed closer to watch the spectacle. Vi seemed angry, but wasted little effort. Eartha was grinding her teeth in anger, though it looked as if she was straining.
The people in the mall seemed to not notice the epic battle that was being waged in their midst. They walked past the shops as if nothing was going on. People would look into Fortuness but not enter. It was as if something was warding them off, or subconsciously keeping them from noticing the events.
Jeff wondered how Eartha was able to do it. He knew it had to be Eartha, Vi would have everyone paying attention. His glance quickly turned to Vi.
He was right, she was beginning to get frustrated.
Suddenly, without warning Vi threw the woman a dirty look and stomped off down the hallway towards the food court.
Eartha held her pose til Vi was out of sight.
Slowly Eartha went back behind the front counter. She eased down her chair.
Jeff entered the store and looked at the woman. She had aged in those few minutes. Her hair had miscellaneous strands of grey mixed in with the black. Under her eyes the skin darkened, and light wrinkles began to appear.
    “Are you alright?” Jeff asked.
Eartha was too tired to fight another ghost. She tried to ignore him, and looked down at what was left of her uneaten sandwich.
“Please you have to help me.” Jeff pleaded. “That girl you just had to fight. She’s after my friend, and I’m supposed to protect him.”
Eartha did not look up at him.
“Please!” Jeff screamed. “She’s going to kill him!”
