Vampires

“I sent Jules to speak to the Arch Bishop.” Augustus addressed the Ancients. “If we can not summon the support of humans we will not prevail in our fight.”
There was a mild rumbling of disagreement in the small room.
“Do you have a better plan?”, Augustus challenged. “Tell me, I am open to ideas. Your suggestion no matter how outlandish will not fall on deaf ears.”
A slender, pale, blonde woman stood from the back of the room, seated at her table were three other pale women. Her accent was soothing, though no human had heard the likes of it in centuries. “It is true, we must act now.” she glanced back at the those seated with her for support, then continued. “I am not sure we can trust either the clergy, or modern humans.”
“She’s right.” a man on the far side of the room stood up. “It’s true many have evolved intellectually, but fear is still a deep rooted factor. They do not know of our kind, we are fairy tales to them. What happens to us when they find we are not fiction but fact?”
“They can not fight them and win without us.” Augustus explained. “We can not fight them and win without the humans.” Augustus walked to the woman’s table. “Do you have a safe place to hide for all eternity while this army scourges the planet eating all the resources? Are you certain they will never find you?”
None responded, the blonde woman sat down and glanced at her companions.
Augustus walked back to the front of the room. “They are not at war with humans, they are at war with us! The ancients! They want to wipe us out and they become the ones in charge. We stand in their way of total annihilation of the human race.”
Azeus stood up from his table and addressed the crowd. “They are unreasonable. I have spoken with their leaders. Do you really want the likes of Alfonz Reiniger becoming the head of the vampire clans? Are we not all aware of his ideals? Never mind his Master Race ideology that has been etched in him since birth, he has become the master race as a Vampire. He proclaims this to be true. Do you not remember after the scientist proclaimed the clouds would never dissipate? Do you not remember what he said would happen, what his plan was for all mankind? To make them slaves, that we should rule the Earth as cruel masters doing as we pleased. You have forgotten. You have forgotten his uprising, and how many of us died quelling that. But I have not. My Lover, of over two hundred years, died bringing down Alfonz Reiniger. Alfonz himself suffered devastating losses, we destroyed every vampire and banished them from our ranks.”
“Only this time he had someone far worse helping him, feeding him ideas.” Augustus chimed in. “Elizabeth shared her ideas of world domination, her desire for hunting and the old ways. She longed for the days she was worshiped and feared. She took that plan to them, and they implemented it.”
“They grow strong on virgin blood they milk from human stock cattle they have bred into purity.” Azeus added. “They have large farms in three states now, hidden from detection of any human kind. But we can find it.”
The woman stood again, “Then let us start there and take their food source.”
The group echoed her sentiment.
Azeus looked at Agustus.
“Let us try.” Augustus agreed, if anything it would at least give them an even playing field. “There is a facility in Landor Wyoming, the place where the first massacre took place and wiped out the town.”
“I was there.” the woman said. “I remember the carnage, even the pasture animals were laid to waste. Only the buildings were left as a reminder there was ever anything living there.”
“And do you recall why?” Azeus asked her. “Do you recall why Alfonz Reiniger did those things?”
“Enough!”Augustus interrupted. “We are all aware of his motives, then and now.”
“Agreed.” the woman said. “Let us waste no more time. We leave now for Landor.” she turned to a redhead sitting at her Table, “Ashca, you tell the others. Bring everyone, no one stays behind to protect the homeland. For if we fail, there will be no way to ever keep it safe. It would be better to let it be overrun with rats, than ghosts.”
