Vampires

Jeremiah was not happy with his new task. He sped along the interstate heading into Nevada to search for Elizabeth.
Augustus and the rest of the clan had moved northward to temperatures much cooler than he was accustomed to. Utheus had calmed down since the move, his entire temperament seemed to cool with the temperature. The entire clan was in better spirits on the whole, and the food was less tainted with diseases.
They had been in the city of Brainer for almost four years now and enjoyed the safety and quiet. Jessica and Tlantli had begun hunting together in the countryside. Argon and Utheus hunted in Downtown Brainer, they had established themselves as members of a gang. Jules hunted in parks and deserted, lonely bars where he was most likely to find the depressed and downtrodden looking for love. In the entire state of Minnesota they had yet to meet a single Believer or Hunter. It was almost like Vampire Paradise.
Jeremiah was glad for the escape, though he couldn’t understand why amidst peace should he go looking for chaos. Augustus insisted he go search out Elizabeth and find out where she was, what she was doing, and who she was with.
Augustus insisted it was a military request, only because Elizabeth was not to be trusted. Even though she was no longer part of the clan, he was still responsible for keeping the clan safe. That included keeping the clan safe from her.
It was not hard to find her, not for Jeremiah. Elizabeth had turned Jules and the connection between the two could not be broken. Jeremiah was sure it was the only reason Jules was still with the clan. Especially after what happened in Hamches.
The buildings Jules described, and the surround areas were not unknown to Jeremiah. It was a place he knew well. In the early nineteen fifties they tested an atomic bomb there. The area was a complete compound including living quarters, hospital, school building, and several other various buildings for industrial or warehouse use.
Jeremiah sped down the highway towards the abandoned test site on a silver BMW motorbike. He thought of the task at hand he had to accomplish. He thought of the times he had spent on this very highway.
Soon he could see the chain link fence that surrounded the outer area. The signs posted warning people of the restricted area. An area no longer watched, completely forgotten about by the government that placed it there.
Jeremiah was going to do more than just report back, he had made up his mind to kill Elizabeth.
