Vampires

Jules turned on the monitor and pointed to the breaking news story coming out of California. He said nothing, only moved out of Augustus’ view.
Augustus watched in silence. He observed Utheus and Argon surrounded by freed prisoners while a pile of bodies burned a few yards away. The sound of weapons fire and shouting could barely be heard over the helicopter. Then out of the corner of the screen was a bright light streaming towards the camera, then in a sudden bright flash the signal was gone.
The group looked at each other in silence.
The reporters were frantically trying to keep control of themselves.
Jules turned the monitor off and looked at Augustus.
“We knew it had to begin.” Augustus said. “We will have to start moving soon. Jeremiah is scouting for a location.”
Jessica was the first to speak, “How do we know we will be in time?”
“If this is Elizabeth’s plan brought to life, and she really did figure out a way to manufacture pure virgin blood.” Pieotre paused for a second thinking about the possibilty. “They will be stronger than us.”
“HA!” Tlantli scoffed. “Only the weak would be so afraid.”
“We will be weaker.” Augustus assured them. “So we have to be smarter.”
“Or faster.” Jessica complained. “We need to move now! No one moves faster than Elizabeth, no one. You want to out manuever her, she’s always two steps ahead. How else is she working out her plan? She stayed here under our protection while she worked out this plan.” She turned to Jules, “And you, her accomplish in all things. Why are you even still here? You betrayed this entire tribe over her nonsense.”
“It wasn’t nonscence.” Jules defended his decision. “She was right. You’re just upset you didn’t think of it first, and even more so that you didn’t have what it took to lure out a pure blood virgin.” Jules was very proud of himself at the moment, “It was Elizabeth who scouted out that perfect fallen morsel, and I bet she was right about every community having one in the same.”
Jules turned to Augustus, “All we have to do is scout them out, I can lure them away. We don’t have to be weak, we can be just as strong as they are!”
Augustus scowled at the young vampire, “You want to make enemies of the very people we have no choice but to ally with.”
    “You’re insane!” Tlantli accused outright.
The rest of the group was equally taken aback.
“Our mortal enemies.” Jessica shook her head in disagrement. “I can not stand by that. No. They will turn on us and kill us if given the chance.”
“It’s true.” Tlantli agreed. “You can not trust a human.”
Augustus said nothing more. He knew already, they would loose if they did not employ the help of their so called hunters.
