Mysteries on the Side

1970’s plastic and metal t.v. tray. Stains from over the years overlaying a yellowed lily and sunflower pattern that was so popular at the time. She smiled as she thought about all the family meals, the decision to keep this one tray in particular over the other three.
His daughter probably made the most impressionable stains, his wife the coffee stains and perfect ring in the upper right hand corner. Mrs. Izato wondered if his daughter would hold the same nostalgia for the tray, hold it in the same esteem, or if she had a tray of her own from her own family.
Dorthy reached down with her hand to sit further back in the large chair and felt something on her fingertip.
She fished for it and pulled it out. From the desk of Merry Bell, it read in Christmasy font, golden bells on every corner. She new the stationary well, Maribel had handed out sticky pads two years ago. It was so people could write down their shopping lists and she would run to the store for them. It was super helpful for quite a few people at The Alpine. Dorthy never needed any help, she liked going to the store alone.
It was a single paper though, the pad must be tucked away in a drawer somewhere. The fact that it was a single sheet meant the list was finished. It had a few items on there,
Milk
Eggs
Oats
Cooking Oil
Jack Spratz
Toilet Paper
Oolong Tea, Bags
